Our scientific work is based on microbial genetics in the context of application-oriented research. Based on microbial genetic regulators and circuits we pursue three research directions:
(i) Design of synthetic regulators and molecular tools to analyze and engineer biological networks and cell populations,
(ii) Synthesis of dynamic biofunctional surfaces and materials to study cell-surface and cell-matrix interactions and
(iii) Development of multifunctional polymers for translational biomaterial research.
